Lighten Up, Chunks! is a Fabric mod for rebuilding lighting in already-generated chunks. It’s designed for worlds where saved light data is missing, broken, or stale, causing black chunks, dark patches, or incorrect long-distance rendering in tools like Voxy.
Instead of requiring players to manually travel through affected terrain, the mod processes existing chunks in bulk and writes corrected lighting back to disk. It supports whole-world scans, targeted region scans, and radius-based scans, with progress tracking, config options, and commands inspired by Chunky.
Features:
- Relight existing chunks in bulk
- World, region, and radius scan modes
- Designed for fixing broken saved lighting, not generating new terrain
- Writes corrected lighting to disk
- Sends updated chunk/light state back to connected clients
- Boss bar progress display with configurable info
- Mod Menu config support
- Singleplayer-friendly workflow
- Commands similar to Chunky
Use cases:
- Fix black or unlit chunks in old worlds
- Repair stale lighting after modpack changes or broken saves
- Improve distant world rendering for Voxy and similar LOD tools
- Relight a specific damaged area without touching the whole world
- Process an entire explored world over time
How to use with Voxy:
/luc start- wait until completion/voxy import current- wait until completion- Enjoy your darkness-free world!
